In 1982, UMass Life Flight embarked on its first flight. Since its humble beginnings
30 years ago, Life Flight has become a leader in medical transport while continuously
operating out of its base in Worcester, MA, providing transport for the sick and injured
throughout New England. The program primarily provides transport among many community
hospitals in the central Massachusetts area, allowing advanced and definitive care
to be easily accessed. Life Flight provides the mechanism that allows these community
hospitals to provide excellent care and rapidly transport patients with the highest
critical acuity who need increasing levels of care.
