Established in 1980, the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) is an international association which serves providers of air and surface medical transport systems.

The association, a voluntary non-profit organization, encourages and supports its members in maintaining a standard of performance reflecting safe operations and efficient, high quality patient care.

AAMS is built on the idea that representation from a variety of medical transport services and businesses can be brought together to share information, collectively resolve problems and provide leadership in the medical transport community.

The Air Medical Physician Association (AMPA) is a unique association comprised of physicians and professionals involved in medical transport who are committed to promoting safe and efficacious patient transportation through quality medical direction, research, education, leadership, and collaboration.

Air transport of patients requires the integral involvement of a physician knowledgeable in air medical transport. A physician must be responsible for all aspects of the quality of care the patient receives and must have direction over all medical aspects of the transport. The Air Medical Physicians Association is created to support its members in attaining this goal.

The Association seeks to attract all physicians with an interest in air medical transport as members. Its mission is to offer opportunities to collectively study the impact of air transport upon their patients and to share expertise so that patients may receive the best care possible in the safest operating environment.

The Association recognizes the expertise and abilities offered by the other medical and aviation disciplines in air medical transport. It is committed to seeking means of cooperation and collaboration to achieve common goals.

The National EMS Pilots Association (NEMSPA) is a professional organization dedicated to serving pilots involved in emergency medical service and improving the air medical industry in general. NEMSPA was formed in 1984 and has been helping both helicopter and fixed-wing pilots in EMS stay on top of their profession and enhance the service which their individual programs offer. NEMSPA is a non-union, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization which is administered by active EMS pilots who are elected by the association's membership. The organization is of pilots and for pilots and has been since its inception. Therefore, an EMS pilot who belongs to NEMSPA knows that his interests are being looked out for through NEMSPA's efforts to improve safety, increase communication, and advance the state of the EMS industry.

The Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) (also known as National Flight Nurses Association) is a nonprofit member organization whose mission is to advance the practice of transport nursing and enhance the quality of patient care.

Transport Nursing is the unique and expanded role for a professional nurse, encompassing the air and surface medical transport of critically ill and injured patients. This role is characterized by expanding nursing practices based on the growing body of transport nursing knowledge an ASTNA standards of excellence. ASTNA is the dominant and leading body representing transport nurses. ASTNA is the voice of clinical care, with regard to patient and provider advocacy in the transport medical field. Its leadership is representative of those professional nurses meeting membership criteria. ASTNA's activities are performed in a manner exemplifying a service ethic and orientation toward its membership. These activities are focused on supporting, serving and facilitating communication among professional nurses who practice or are actively involved in the support, education and/or management of transport nurses.
