Wisconsin's flight for life 21 years later

Claire Rayford, RN1

Abstract

How does an air medical transport program measure success? By the number of lives saved? An increase in transport requests and completed flights? Additional aircraft or an added ground ambulance service? Conversely, how do we measure failure or setbacks? By experiencing a flat or decreasing trend in transport numbers? By “downsizing” the number of aircraft or closing satellite operations?

1 Claire Rayford, RN, the professional relations/marketing manager of Flight For Life-Wisconsin and program historian, began with the program as a flight nurse 20 years ago.
